This is Cheryl Fisher's new Silk Ribbon II Class on the left and Silk I on the right! It's called "Flora & Fauna" to showcase the graceful flowers, petals & birds in her original creation *Silk Ribbon Embroidery is a great way to embellish quilts, garments, purses & more learn this wonderful technique with Cheryl's "hand's on" classes. *As many of you already know, we carry a large line of silk ribbon from YLI embroidery tools, hoops and books/patterns. Here's Cheryl's newest project!

Starting in January & lasting until May! A Block(s) of the month Quilt in machine or hand applique! Cheryl will be demonstrating both techniques and have lots of great stitches & embellishments to share with you - just perfect for all her fun stitching knowledge! Let us know if you want to be notified when details are set Cheryl is creating the quilt even as I'm writing - it will be a nine block with 12 inch squares and detailed border. Small classes with various times each month! We are scheduling dates for January ~ May, two blocks per month One class monthly - Choose: Saturday afternoon, or Evening or during the week in the morning....dates tba & Cheryl's getting the sample ready!

It's time for kid's projects here at the shop.....Teddy bear with blankie
is so sweet and cuddly- make it up quickly with a pattern that also includes
a quilt......the frog is sooo sweet - we made it up in flannel and stuffed it
with "in stock" beads-floppy and fun.....And here's our Acute doll made up
in Gator colors - And guess what! Five different Gator
fabrics are due in this week!

We love to find new projects for you to play with.....This lovely floral bouquet is made
up with.......YOYOs...it shows all the different yoyos, hearts, flowers, 4 sizes of circles

MACHINE QUILTING TIPS & TECHNIQUES

This is one of the most requested tips from my quiters and I keep it updated each newsletter - watch for additions to the tips & techniques.......machine quilting is a lot easier than most
people think---it's also important to be using the right threads, needles and fabrics for the best results - put on some fun music, pour a glass of wine, drop your feed dogs and go for it!

I'll be doing lots of demos at the Retreat on my easy techniques to get you Machine Quilting your own Quilts! Simple designs are usually the most appropriate on your quilts - don't worry if you
can't do all those fancy feathers in the beginning - you eventually will do them but.....like all things, start with easy designs, get your quilts quilted and progress at your own speed.

* My motto is - IF YOU ARE COMPETENT WITH YOUR MACHINE, YOU KNOW IT INSIDE AND OUT, THEN YOU WILL BE GOOD AT MACHINE QUILTING - JUST SAY "I CAN DO IT!" Ignore all those myths that say it's too hard, that you have to just practice for years and pull out a small quilt and get to it! I look forward to sharing my techniques with you at the retreat and in the shop. -

MACHINE QUILTING -.
Here's a few machine Quilting tips....
1. be sure to use a lighter weight thread in the bobbin, such as,
rayon or 60 wt cotton and a 40 or 50 weight on top.
2. Top Stitch 12/80 needles glide through fabric layers
3. use gloves or the halo to move fabric as you quilt
4. check out the Slider to help your fabric slip right through
5. 100% cotton batting, such as Quilter's Dream, is scrumptious to move your quilt through the machine - lightly spray with Spray Basting 505 and a few pins to attach the quilt sandwich
6. check out a preview of the great new DVD's for machine quilting
7. have fun! if you are skilled with your machine.....
YOU CAN MACHINE QUILT! Remember~ hands move slowly to
keep the stitches small and the machine speed is fast but not race
car fast! Set your speed-if you have one to medium
8. Start with just a simple continuous "S" design along the seams and get started quilting your quilts! You'll get better each time and be proud to say "I did it myself!"
